Roof Flashing

What type of roof flashing do I have?

"Flashing" is any type of metal used to stop water from penetrating the junction of a roof with another surface. There are flashings wherever the roof meets a wall, chimney, or window.

Here are some common types of roof flashing:

What type of flashing do I need?

We typically replace flashing as needed once the shingles are removed. However many customers choose to replace all of the flashing while the roof is being replaced.

Drip edge and gutter apron are another essential aspect of the roofing system, and the first parts of the roof system to be installed.  They form a long, narrow piece of metal which is installed along the perimeter of your roof deck.

They look very similar, however there is a slight difference, as the angles of the two metal components act in a specific way to shed water from the roof deck, rake boards, and fascia board to prevent water rot.
